Keeping the Red Rocks Wildlife Sanctuary Parcel Wild & Free Forever

The Situation

The Red Rocks Wildlife Sanctuary, known as the Homestead property, is privately owned.  This spectacular property sits on 35 acres of wild land and is surrounded by Arrowhead Golf Course.  A Canadian hotel company, in conjunction with the Homestead’s landowners, are attempting to rezone this property from residential to commercial.  If approved by Douglas County Commissioners,  they plan to build a large Nordic Spa with 399 parking spots.  If denied rezoning to Commercial, this property will continue to be under threat for residential development for up to 40 multi-family housing units on its East and West sides.  Since this time, a dedicated team of volunteer homeowners have worked diligently to raise awareness to all homeowners, the Roxborough Park Foundation Homeowner’s Board, and other concerned parties of the potential for development of this unique piece of land that would harm and destroy the abundance of benefits it provides to the habitat and the community in which it resides.
